The first large-scale exhibition (12 May – 9 September 2018) of Yayoi Kusama’s work in Indonesia includes more than 130 works that span almost 70 years.
The exhibition will be presented across the entire museum and will include paintings dating to the 1950s, through to the documentation of performances and happenings during the 1960s, sculptures, recent paintings and ‘infinity mirror room’ installations.
The exhibition traces the development of artistic concepts that are fundamental to Kusama’s vision, including infinity, repetition and self-obliteration.
The exhibition is organised by National Gallery Singapore and Queensland Art Gallery, Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane, Australia in collaboration with Museum MACAN.
