By Iona Goulder
Since leaving his native South Korea, Do Ho Suh spent much of his life in New York. This separation from his home has been the impetus for themes he has explored in his work, such as individuality and collectivity, physicality and immateriality, mobility and fixity. Exploring global cultures, and the connection between individuals within them, feature prominently in works that range from the sculptural to the photographic.
