A major exhibition of globally renowned avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama assembled from collections from all over Japan and around the world will open at a national art gallery in Tokyo from Feb. 22.
The retrospective exhibition showcases about 270 works, including seven large early paintings Kusama created while she was staying in New York.
The show centers around 130 paintings selected from a series titled "My Eternal Soul," which the artist started producing in 2009 and is still in progress.
Another highlight is a string of works she created in New York that brought her international acclaim as an avant-garde artist.
