This major presentation (3 December 2023–7 April 2024) brings together 120 artists and 100 projects.
Flora Yukhnovich's A Taste of a Poison Paradise, 2023, takes its title from the Britney Spears's song Toxic and draws inspiration from Dutch still-lifes. Through a painterly language that hovers between figuration and abstraction, Yukhnovich challenges historic notions of the 'feminine' in her choice of both floral subject matter and pop-culture references. The work is on view surrounded by historical still-life and flower paintings from the NGV Collection.
Since they began collaborating in 1995, Elmgreen & Dragset have challenged and reshaped the way in which art is presented and experienced. The Triennial features several works by the duo, including The painter, fig. 1, 2021, a playful amalgamation of painting and sculpture.
