'The search for and creation of patterns is intrinsic to both science and art. But so is the desire to understand how and why those patterns break down and to uncover the implications for the scientist and the artist.'
On 28 September, Conrad Shawcross will be joined by artist Liliane Lijn, curator Fatos Ustek and mathematician Marcus du Sautoy to discuss their experiences and understanding of pattern and where it has taken them in their scientific and artistic careers.
This is the third in a series of lectures presented in conjunction with the exhibition Conrad Shawcross: Cascading Principles, at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford.
Thursday 28 September, 5:30pm at Mathematical Institute, Woodstock Road, OX2 6GG
