'Time is not linear, it is a marvellous tangle in which, at any moment, ends can be chosen and solutions invented, without beginning or end.' MAXXI – National Museum of 21st Century Art presents Isaac Julien: Lina Bo Bardi — A Marvellous Entanglement, on view from 23 September 2020 – 28 February 2021.
This nine-channel video installation is a poetic tribute to the great Italian-Brazilian architect. The work takes its title from a quote from one of the most well-known and evocative passages of Bo Bardi's letters. In Julien's work, Bo Bardi is played by two of the greatest actresses of Brazilian cinema and theatre, Fernanda Montenegro and her daughter Fernanda Torres. Curated by Luigia Lonardelli.
