The exhibition (21 June–21 October 2018) celebrates the premiere of Shawcross’ sculpture Monolith (Optic), 2016, on Main Street in front of the Wadsworth Atheneum.
The accompanying exhibition features additional sculptures, models and a slow-moving light machine. These energetic, geometric objects demonstrate the artist’s ongoing interests in science, robotics, and the natural world. MATRIX 179 isShawcross’s first museum exhibition in the Americas.
The artist gave a talk about his work at 6pm, Thursday 21 June 2018.
