Sydney Biennale interview with Harsha
1. Can you tell us about the inspiration behind your Biennale 2018 work and describe what it will look like visually?
The dark spaces packed inside carton boxes in all the market spaces inspires me. In these dark spaces ‘mater’ become part of the cosmos which we assume is far away!
I leave it to the people to experience it ‘visually’ best not describe and led....
2. I was reading you are known for a unique artistic practice based on the manipulation of traditional Indian miniature painting - are we going to see any echos of this in the AGNSW installation?
I am not showing a painting here this time. But I am celebrating ‘paint’ and its strengths.
In this piece I throw paint like a ‘cast net’ to capture the essence of cosmos which is hidden in our everyday life.
3. I was also reading a lot of your work has a strong political bend. Is this relevant to your Biennale piece.
I always found politics of ‘art for art’ interesting, because there is lot of room for playfulness, mystery and adventurous journey into unknown spaces. Piece at the Biennial opens up towards ‘conscious living’ in today’s world conditions than being political about it.
