As part of FIAC 2016, Hub, London Apartment will be shown in On Site at the Petit Palais, co-presented with Lehmann Maupin, New York.
Replicating the architecture of his dwelling places, Suh's translucent fabric structures give form to ideas about migration, transience and shifting identities. These ideas are further conveyed in his Hub works, where transitory, connecting spaces speak metaphorically about movement between cultures and the blurring of public and private, as well as reflecting on the passage of the artist's own life and the experience of a person who has developed roots in multiple countries.
A point of intersection between rooms, Hub, London Apartment, 2015 was first exhibited in the artist's solo exhibition at the Contemporary Art Center Cincinnati in 2016 and is a partial representation of the artist's home in London.
A new sector of FIAC, On Site presents a selection of sculptures and installations in the Galerie Sud, the Pavillon Sud and the Jardin du Petit Palais, as well as the esplanade in front of Petit Palais. In association with Christophe Leribault, curator and director of the Petit Palais, as well as the associate curator Lorenzo Benedetti.
