Victoria Miro returns to FIAC (Grand Palais, Stand 0.B16) with a two-person presentation of Do Ho Suh and Yayoi Kusama.
On display is a room of paintings by Yayoi Kusama from the artist's important, ongoing series My Eternal Soul. Kusama's most recent series of paintings encapsulate a surreal and humorous, as well as instinctual, approach to art making. Each painting abounds with imagery including eyes, faces in profile and other more indeterminate forms recalling cell structures, often in pulsating combinations of colour. An installation of works on the stand by Do Ho Suh features Hub, Wielandstr. 18, 12159 Berlin. Replicating the architecture of his dwelling places, Suh's translucent fabric structures give form to ideas about migration, transience and shifting identities. These ideas are further conveyed in his Hub works, where transitory, connecting spaces speak metaphorically about movement between cultures and the blurring of public and private, as well as reflecting on the passage of the artist's own life and the experience of a person who has developed roots in multiple countries.
In addition, Hub, London Apartment will be shown as part of On Site, a new sector of FIAC at the Petit Palais, co-presented with Lehmann Maupin, New York.
